About The Chicago Foundation for Mental Health (TCFMH)

The Chicago Foundation for Mental Health (TCFMH.org) is an Illinois-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to bringing high-quality, sustainable mental health services directly to the communities that need them most.

We believe that exceptional mental health care should be a right, not a privilege. Our core mission is to bridge the gap for families by embedding comprehensive mental health services directly into Chicago schools, providing care and relief to the individuals and families who face the greatest barriers to access.

Bridging the Gap: In-School Mental Health Services

Traditional mental health care often comes with hidden barriers—transportation issues, strict work schedules, and high costs prevent thousands of Chicago youth from receiving timely support.

TCFMH solves this problem by bringing quality mental health services directly into schools during regular school hours. By integrating care into the student’s natural daily environment, we completely remove traditional access barriers.

Our In-School Framework Includes:

Individual Therapy:

Tailored clinical sessions designed to support students dealing with trauma, stress, anxiety, and behavioral challenges.

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL):

Delivering proactive skills that build resilience, emotional intelligence, and coping skills.

Stigma Reduction:

Community-wide prevention activities that promote mental health awareness and foster safe, supportive educational environments.

A Sustainable, Community-First Model

We don’t just provide temporary fixes; we build lasting support systems. TCFMH utilizes a highly sustainable operational model designed to maintain a consistent, long-term clinical presence within Chicago’s South and West Side schools.

Our foundation delivers culturally sensitive interventions. We recognize that a safe clinical space cannot exist without a deep, lived understanding of the community’s cultural framework. Our clinicians meet students and families exactly where they are, ensuring our care does not disrupt family life, but instead acts as a trusted pillar of support.

Our Motivation

Our heartbeat is Chicago. We are driven by an unwavering motivation to provide deep healing, clinical excellence, and immediate relief to at-risk youth and families who would otherwise go without care. Through our innovative school-based model, we aim to not only heal our communities from within but also to inspire the next generation of mental health professionals to serve the areas that need them most.

We are a 501 c 3 organization rooted in the service we feel to give back and look out for our fellow brothers and sisters. At TCFMH, our doctors and clinical therapists go into communities in Chicago that are underserved and lacking resources. We are motivated by our desire to see a more equitable landscape in general, and we offer our services in the form of mental health care. Our aim is to provide a high quality care experience in areas where there is a huge need, and hardly any options, for mental health care. Our clinicians are embedded in the community, taking away one of the many barriers communities face: accessibility. We know that at least 98% of our patient population would not receive services were we not in their community.

About Us
We work in the community & in schools

We work in the community & in schools

Our foundation is run by clinical psychologists who are skilled at offering culturally sensitive interventions. We know that many times, clinicians who work in communities of color do more harm than good due to not having an intimate appreciation of the community and their struggles. Our doctors are sophisticated and know how to meet people where they are at. We have years and years of experience offering services inside of communities in and around Chicago. We know that each community is different and has unique qualities that make them unique, and we understand that we cannot offer a safe space without working from within the context and cultural framework of our patients' lives.
